We met the Newkirk family today - Field Coordinator - Steve, Laura, Melody and Katie were delightful. They live near the beach, so Steve and Darwin decided to go ocean kayaking. The rest of us tagged along to photograph this adventure. And, it was a bit rough. Let the pictures tell the story.
They spent quite a bit of time outside of the kayak...... and Darwin experienced an extremely strong current that dragged him away from shore (with his life vest and paddle). We gathered quite a crowd of concerned, animated observers who continued to tell me (in french) that
this is a dangerous beach. Well, we know that to 
be true now...(thank you Melody for getting the kayak that arrived on shore before the kayakers)
oh gosh. at least he had a life jacket! looks warm and beautiful there!
