Always Leave Extra Time

We woke up early to visit the lighthouse and begin our journey back to Thies. And what, to my wondering eyes did appear, a flat tire. It's kind of a mystery to me. But Marilyn says flat tires always happen in 3's. This flat was in the tire she just had repaired last week. I didn't think that was a positive attitude, but was glad that we were not on a crowded Dakar street or long dusty road. Also glad Darwin was there to change it :)

Although were were leaving a bit late, we still took some time to drive to the lighthouse and get a view of Dakar.

At the top we were greeted by three watchmen wondering what we were doing there.

We also had a clear view of the 3.5 million franc renaissance statue that the president of Senegal is building to represent the 'perfect Senegalese' models. huh. That is interesting to see in light of the surrounding major highway traffic jams and poverty.....
